Bringing the World's Best
Teachers to America's
Classrooms

We recruit, certify, and place talented international educators in U.S. schools โ€” handling visa processing, credential evaluation, state licensure, and cultural transition so they can focus on what they do best: teaching.

Two Primary Visa Routes
for International Teachers

Understanding your visa options is the first step. Each pathway has different eligibility requirements, timelines, and long-term implications. We help you choose the right one.

๐Ÿ”„ J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa

The J-1 Teacher Program is part of the U.S. Department of State's BridgeUSA cultural exchange initiative. It's designed for experienced international educators who want to teach in U.S. K-12 schools while participating in cross-cultural exchange.

  • Initial 3-year placement with option for 2-year extension (5 years total)
  • Must have equivalent of U.S. bachelor's degree in Education or teaching subject
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time K-12 teaching experience required
  • Must be currently employed as a teacher in home country
  • Requires a U.S. Department of State-designated sponsor organization
  • Full-time salary comparable to similarly-situated U.S. educators ($35Kโ€“$85K)
  • J-2 visa available for spouse and dependents under 21
  • Subject to 2-year home residency requirement upon completion (with some waivers)

๐Ÿ’ผ H-1B Specialty Occupation Visa

The H-1B visa is an employer-sponsored work visa for teachers in specialty occupations. It's the pathway for educators who want a longer-term or potentially permanent move to the United States.

  • Initial 3-year validity with option for 3-year extension (6 years total)
  • Requires employer (school/district) sponsorship and petition to USCIS
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required in relevant teaching field
  • Subject to annual cap, but schools may be cap-exempt as nonprofits
  • Dual intent โ€” allows pursuit of permanent residency (Green Card)
  • No prior teaching experience requirement (varies by employer)
  • H-4 visa for dependents, with potential work authorization
  • Credential evaluation required to demonstrate degree equivalency

What International Teachers
Need to Qualify

๐ŸŽ“

Degree Equivalency

Your degree must be evaluated by a NACES-approved agency to confirm it's equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree. A course-by-course evaluation is typically required โ€” not just a general assessment. We guide you to the right evaluator for your country.

Mandatory Step
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

English Proficiency

You must demonstrate fluency in English. Many programs and states accept a combination of evidence: a degree taught in English, TOEFL/IELTS scores, or an interview assessment. Requirements vary by sponsor and state.

๐Ÿ“œ

State Certification

You'll need certification in the U.S. state where you'll teach. Some states issue temporary or emergency credentials while you complete requirements. We map the fastest path based on your qualifications and target state.

๐Ÿ“‹

Teaching Experience

J-1 programs require a minimum of 2 years of full-time K-12 teaching experience. H-1B requirements vary by employer. We help you document and present your experience to meet each program's standards.

Background Check

A full criminal background check is required for all pathways. International candidates may also need police clearance certificates from their home country and any country where they've resided.

Mandatory Step
๐Ÿ’ฐ

Financial Readiness

You'll need funds for initial costs: credential evaluation ($100โ€“$300), visa application fees ($185โ€“$460), SEVIS fee ($220), relocation, and first-month living expenses. We provide a detailed cost breakdown during your consultation.

Where International Teachers
Are Needed Most

U.S. school districts recruit international educators specifically for shortage subjects. If you teach any of the following, your skills are urgently needed.

๐Ÿงฎ

Mathematics

From elementary math to AP Calculus โ€” math teacher vacancies are among the highest in nearly every state.

๐Ÿ”ฌ

Sciences

Biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science teachers are in critical demand at the secondary level.

โ™ฟ

Special Education

SPED-certified teachers are needed to serve students with IEPs. This is often the single hardest position for districts to fill.

๐ŸŒ

World Languages

Spanish, French, Mandarin, Arabic โ€” dual-language immersion programs are expanding rapidly and need native-speaking teachers.
